Edo In Focus: Court Strikes Out Suit Against Obaseki Over Certificate Forgery

A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a suit documented against the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki.

The offended parties, in the suit stamped: FHC/ABJ/CS/553/2020 blamed the Governor for participating in endorsement imitation.

Recorded as offended parties in the suit are Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin and Amedu Dauda Anakhu.

They blamed Obaseki for producing his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) authentication in Classical Studies from the University of Ibadan.

The offended parties battled that the supposed authentication fraud contradicts area 182(1)(i) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as changed).

They implored the court to among others, hold that Obaseki is "not qualified to run or look for political race to the workplace of the legislative head of Edo State" in the expected 2020 governorship political race.

At the notice of the case on Monday, neither the offended parties nor their legal counselors were in court.  The respondent also was not spoken to.

Taking into account the turn of events, Justice Anwuli Chiekere continued to strike out the suit.
