Hon. Shaba expresses rude shock at Felele fire incident, mourns, prays for the victims
......Charges the Government on protective measures
The House of Representatives Member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency has reacted to the Felele fire incident that occurred today, Wednesday September 23rd 2020.
In his reaction, he said "It is with rude shock I receive the news of the fire incident that occurred in my Constituency today. I lack words to express how I feel. The gory pictures and the video footages I am receiving from loved ones and constituents make me feel very sad. My prayers are with the people of Felele and with all people of Lokoja Local Government. I in no little way mourn the loss and the deaths and wish the injured, quick recovery".
"I charge the Federal Government, State and Local Government to do all within their powers to keep the people of Lokoja safe away from the hazard that these tanker drivers cause to us. As well all know, Lokoja is a town that plays host to Federal and State roads. On the Federal side of it, it connects many parts of the country together in terms of transport route, hence the serious reocurring danger of this nature it suffers from especially tanker drivers. However, the Government at various levels can do much to protect us from the hazards these tanker drivers pose to us as a people, it is all about the political will to do what they should do as these deaths and losses are becoming one too many and we cannot continue like this. Our people cannot continue to die or lose their properties to the hazards the movements of these tanker drivers pose. The Government must do something about this unacceptable event to prevent it from occurring ever again," he added.
He prayed Allah to receive the souls of those who died from the incident, he urged the respective authorities to do the needful to help manage the damage caused by the incident.
He wished the injured quick recovery of their health.
He called on well-wishers and those that are well to do, as well as NGOs to come to the aid of the victims of the incident to ameliorate the hardship they are likely to suffer due to the sad incident.
