Covenant Varsity Set To Run Open And Distance e-Learning

The Covenant University has been granted the permission by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to operate an e-learning platform, known as the ‘Covenant Centre for Open and Distance e-learning (CCODeL).’

The University scheduled to begin with the Computer Science programme as th operating license was granted to the versity by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

In a statement released by the Communications Department of the institution, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, expressed regrets that four out of every five admission seekers into tertiary institutions do not often get admission into the university.

He affirmed that the newly accredited distance e-learning platform by the university will help address the admission deficit in the country, and promote educational development in Africa.

According to him, the e-learning will enable students to enroll and learn at their own pace without the barrier of distance or the rigour associated with classroom settings.

According to Adebayo, the licensing of the e-learning platform is a critical turning point in extending access to high-quality education outside of the conventional classroom and demonstrates our dedication to innovation, excellence, and diversity in higher education.

The Covenant University has been licensed to operate an e-learning platform, known as the ‘Covenant Centre for Open and Distance e-learning (CCODeL).’

The operating license was granted to the University by the National Universities Commission (NUC), scheduled to begin with the Computer Science programme.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, in a statement released by the Communications Department of the institution, expressed regrets that four out of every five admission seekers into tertiary institutions do not often get admission into the university.

He affirmed that the university’s newly accredited distance e-learning platform will help address the admission deficit in Nigeria, and foster educational development in Africa.

This, according to him, will enable learners to enroll and learn at their own pace without the barrier of distance or the rigour associated with classroom settings.

Adebayo said the e-learning platform licensing has marked a significant milestone in expanding access to quality education beyond the traditional classroom setting as it underscores our commitment to innovation, excellence, and inclusivity in higher education.

Because of the post-COVID pandemic demand for ICT-related education and certifications, Covenant University has only been able to admit one out of every five applicants to our computer science program.

We applaud this, as it suggests that all applicants who fulfilled our admission standards but were turned down can still use our open and distant learning e-learning program, adds Adebayo.

The Vice-Chancellor went on to say that Covenant University was established with a Christian mission ethos and is among the top universities in Africa. It was built with the goal of restoring the dignity of the black race and producing a new generation of leaders.

He emphasized that the university is dedicated to staying at the forefront of education, with a focus on the Total Man-driven curriculum.
