See What NYSC DG Said About Corps Members Applying For Relocation

Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed, the Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has urged corps members to be prepared to serve in any part of the country they were deployed for their one year mandatory service. 

For the corps members to settle down and contribute their quota to the growth and development of their state of deployment, so he cautioned them over seeking for redeployment

The DG, on the spot assessment visit, while he was addressing Batch A Stream 1 corps members during their cultural carnival in Anambra State orientation camp, also urged corps members to take their security seriously.

He said; respect the culture and traditions of your host community. Add value to the community you’re posted to, remain peaceful and resilient. I’m sure many of you will choose to remain here after your service.

“Your security is our concern, but no one can secure you more than yourself, so take your security seriously. Take time to read the instructions in your manual and abide by them accordingly.”

Highlighting the importance of skill acquisition and entrepreneurial development of the Scheme, The DG urged corps members to take advantage of the skill acquisition and entrepreneurial development programme to become not just self reliant, but job and wealth creators after their service year.

“Federal government is out to ensure youths are supported and empowered so they can stand on their own. Skills acquisition is designed to make you independent, self reliance and productive. 

“Thousands of your forebears who took advantage of the chance are now self-sufficient. Numerous people benefited from various forms of government assistance in partnership with commercial entities, such as interest-free soft loans.

The NYSC commander urged corps members to respect the customs and culture of their host communities. He was bestowed with the chieftaincy title of Dike Ora I of Umuawulu by Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, the traditional ruler of the community where the camp is located.

I didn't hesitate to accept the chieftaincy title when I was informed about it because the NYSC espouses togetherness, oneness, and respect for our rich and various traditions. 

"The states are making an effort, but we will keep working with them to make sure the camp facilities, particularly the halls are renovated to accommodate the growing number of corps members who are leaving each year."
