PDP State Chairman Dr. Jamil Jibo Magayaki Defects to APC!
The political cycles of Zamfara State has been hit by a massive tremor as the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Jamil Jibo Magayaki, officially dumped the umbrella for the broom, joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This high profile defection follows the recent move by Governor Dauda Lawal, who also transitioned to the APC, effectively signaling a total collapse of the PDP structure in the state.
In a statement shared across his social media platforms, Dr. Magayaki noted that his exit from the PDP was a strategic move dictated by the current state of affairs in Zamfara.
According him, the decision was not merely about party politics but about aligning with a platform that can actually deliver on the "big three" for the people: Security, Development, and Governance.
“My decision to join the APC is based on the current political reality in Zamfara State, which demands alignment with a platform better positioned to address the challenges... for the benefit of our people,” Magayaki stated.
With both the Governor and the State Party Chairman now under the APC banner, political analysts are describing the PDP in Zamfara as a "ship without a captain." This realignment is expected to have a major ripple effect on the 2027 political permutations, both in the North-West and across the federation.
