ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION: SOMOLU LG CHAIRMAN 'DULLAR' CHARGE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH  WORKERS TO DO MORE

Heavy downpour as a hallmark of climate change, which is also one of the most prevalent occurrences of nature which in turn gives rise to environmental pollution, have put residents of every community on high alert.

However, as a safety measure on this universal challenge, the responsive Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu a.k.a Dullar has charged the diligent environmental health service workers to roll up their sleeves, in preparation for more downpour in the coming days.

Aside the negligence of some dwellers of this community which can in return  lead to flooding, many factors can also go into the making of this mishap, such as improper disposition/disposal of wastes on major roads, canals and cornered areas are part of it, to mention but few.

Although, recent reports from Comrade Kushimo Issa, the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Environment evidently shows the continuous flow of work and efforts put in place by the environmental team to safeguard the community.

Meanwhile, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, through the Environmental Health Services Department, has embarked on clearing of drainage system in Somolu. Bajulaiye road, Apata Street, Oguntolu Street and Shipeolu road are among the roads that their drainage systems are marked for clearing to avoid flooding in the areas.

In a big populated city like Lagos, it is pertinent that an administrative head' work profusely and focus in depth on solving problems arising from the challenges emphasized above, as a compliment to the sterling work of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu on his '5th Pillar Development Agenda, Environment and Tourism'.
