See When Sultan Urges Muslim Community to Commence Search for 2024 Ramadan Moon.

In anticipation of the 2024 Ramadan fasting, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), led by its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged Muslims across the country to start looking for the 2024 (1445 AH) Ramadan moon beginning on Sunday.

As per a declaration by Prof. Salisu Shehu, Deputy Secretary General of the NSCIA, the Council urged the Muslim Ummah to monitor the sky for the crescent of Ramadan 1445 on the designated day, aligning with the 29th of Sha’aban 1445 AH.

He expressed that Sultan Abubakar sends his best wishes to the entire Muslim Ummah for the approaching 1445 AH Ramadan fast.

In his declaration: “The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, guided by its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, congratulates the entire Muslim Ummah on the upcoming 1445 AH Ramadan Fast. The Council hopes that Allah preserves the lives of all Muslims to engage in the spiritual exercise and to fully leverage the advantages associated with it."

“Following the recommendation of the National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC), the President-General urges the Nigerian Muslim Ummah to eagerly look for the crescent of Ramadan 1445 AH right after sunset on Sunday, March 10, 2024, corresponding to the 29th of Sha’aban 1445 AH.

"If the crescent is spotted by Muslims of outstanding character on the mentioned evening, then His Eminence will announce Monday, 11th March 2024 as the initial day of Ramadan 1445 AH. In case the crescent is not observed on that day, then Tuesday, 12th March 2024, immediately becomes the start of Ramadan, 1445 AH”, the statement partly stated."
