The State Eye Care Program domiciled in the Public Health Department of the State Ministry of Health through the workaholic Hon Commissioner for Health Dr AbudulAzeez Adeiza Adams has supported the NMA free medical/surgical outreach at Okene with Ophthalmic surgical consumables, ophthalmic operating microscope worth 2.5millions naira to aide the outreach towards operating clients with cataract which is one of the leading causes of avoidable blindness/pterygium surgeries and detection of uncorrected refractive errors and other eye disease conditions. One of the mandates of the state Eye Care Program is to provide comprehensive, quality, affordable & accessible Eye Care services to the entire population of kogi State with the state of the art equipment. The HCH for health has been on the forefront of the Eye Care Program implementation by providing the leadership skills needed towards preventing people from going blind from the avoidable causes. Going forward, the Eye Care Program will be providing affordable, accessible and quality eye care service delivery at Kabba Zonal Hospital & Ankpa zonal hospital while Okene & Idah remain the outreach centers.
