Lagos School Collapses, Hundreds Narrowly Escape Death.
A swift evacuation saved hundreds of lives yesterday when a four-story building housing Yemco Nursery, Primary, and Comprehensive College collapsed in the Aguda area of Ogba, Lagos.
The structure, located at 11 Adudatu Street (behind County Hospital), crumbled around midday. Eyewitnesses report that the collapse occurred just minutes after students, teachers, and staff fled the premises.
The disaster was bypassed due to a timely warning as a local resident noticed signs of structural failure and immediately alert the school authorities.
The school management acted instantly, ordering a full evacuation of the building.
Despite the total collapse of the school wing, no lives were lost.
Officials from the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) arrived quickly to cordoned off the site. While the school wing is a total loss, a residential portion of the property reportedly remains standing.
